High School Student Council
River Oaks Student Council members are elected by the student body every spring for the following school year. Students must be in good standing and maintain at least a C average.
Student Council responsibilities include running the school store, and planning and staffing school events -- including the "pumpkins on parade" carnival, winter cup, and spring fling. Student Council members also participate in community service projects throughout the year.

Middle School Student Council
The purpose of the Student Council shall be to represent the student body and the school in all necessary activities, to provide a forum for student expression, to promote communication between the student body and the administration, and to initiate all possible projects for the good of the school and the community. Representatives in the Student Council are elected for terms of one year, however, Council members may be re-elected to serve on the Council. Representatives and officers must maintain an overall C average with no grade lower than a D. This average must be maintained each semester or the student will be dropped from the council. Representatives and officers shall be elected by a secret ballot by students in grades six through eight. Council members assist with special elementary programs, sponsors middle school dances/socials, bonding day activities, and present the program for Veterans’ Day
